I hail from Adelaide, Australia and I have been teaching for six years in a variety of settings all over this great brown land. I adore reading, blogging and generally writing. I once thought I could be a writer but then self-doubt happened, ten years passed and now I find myself getting my feet wet in the writing pool.
How SDD began: Mid 2008, I decided to create a literature based blog. I was already co-hosting two podcasts on general pop culture but I wanted to do something to reflect my love of words. I loved the three Sarah Dessen books I had read so it seemed logical to pursue her books as a theme. Kaleb Union (The Twilight Guy) was huge at the time and I used him as an inspiration in terms of the structure I would use. I do it differently though, as I write more detailed responses and am unable to do interesting things with Photoshop.
If you want to see what I think of books outside of the Dessen Universe of Awesomeness, then check out my other blog – Persnickety Snark. It’s where I review Young Adult Literature from across the globe, interview authors and publishers and share my heart swelling love of YA literature.
